What “edit” means here
FileSwiftly adds a new layer of content on top of the existing page: text you type, shapes, highlights, pen strokes and images. It does not rewrite the text that is already in the PDF. To change an existing word, cover it with white-out and type the new word on top — the classic paper method, and it works on scans too.
Working with items
Every item can be selected, dragged to a new spot, resized from its corner handle or deleted with the Delete key or the trash button. Text boxes are edited in place: click into the text to change it. Color, size and stroke width apply to the selected item and to the next one you add.
Highlights and white-out
Highlight draws a translucent yellow (or any color) block, like a marker pen. White-out draws an opaque white box with no border. Keep in mind that white-out only hides content visually: the original text is still in the file underneath and can be copied out. For sensitive information, use a dedicated redaction tool.
Fonts and characters
Text is written with standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times and Courier). They cover English and Western European characters; other scripts are not supported yet and the editor warns you if a character cannot be written.
Edit PDF: frequently asked questions
Can I change existing text in the PDF?
Not directly. Cover it with white-out and type new text on top. Editing the original text layer is planned for a later version.
Can I undo?
Select an item and delete it, or press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo the last added item.
Will my edits be visible in every PDF viewer?
Yes. Edits are written into the page content itself, not as comments that some viewers hide.
Does the editor work on a phone?
Yes, with touch: tap to place, drag to move. A larger screen is more comfortable for detailed work.
