Text watermarks
A diagonal “DRAFT” at 25–35% opacity is readable without hiding the content underneath. Use a larger size and the tiled layout for proofs and samples you send to clients, so that cropping one corner does not remove the mark.
Logo watermarks
Upload a PNG with a transparent background for the cleanest result. The logo is scaled relative to the page width, so it looks the same on Letter, A4 and larger pages. Lower the opacity to turn a full-color logo into a subtle background mark.
Which pages
Watermark every page, or only a range — for example, leave the cover clean and stamp pages 2 onwards.
How permanent is a watermark?
The watermark is drawn into each page’s content, so it prints and shows in every viewer. A determined person with PDF editing software can still remove page content; to discourage casual editing, follow up with Protect PDF.
Add watermark: frequently asked questions
Can the watermark go behind the text?
It is drawn above the page content. With opacity around 20–35% the text underneath stays fully readable.
Which characters can I use?
Latin letters, numbers and common punctuation (the standard PDF font character set). Use an image watermark for other scripts.
Can I watermark several PDFs at once?
Yes. Each file is stamped with the same settings and returned in a ZIP.
Does watermarking reduce quality?
No. The original page content is untouched; the watermark is added on top.
